Kurkuri Bhindi (Crispy Okra)

This dish was a result of trying to make something different from the usual okra side dish that i make,to accompany rice as a side dish. This dish serves as a tasty starter and goes well with rice too.

Ingredients :

250 gms ladies finger (also known as okra/bhindi)

1 tbspoon besan powder (chickpea powdr)

1 tbspoon rice powder

1 tspoon chilli powder

1 tspoon garam masala

1/4 tspoon turmeric powder

1/2 tspoon salt

Oil to deep fry

Procedure :

  • Wash the ladies finger. Wipe dry. Slit them vertically into 4-5 pieces. The end result should be thin long strips of ladies finger.
  • In a bowl ,mix the chilli powder, garama masala, turmeric powder, salt , besan powder and rice powder. After dry mixing, add 2 tablespoons of water and mix again into a tick paste.
  • Now add the ladies finger strips into this paste and mix well again such that the strips get coated with the paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Drop the strips into hot oil and deep fry them. (You can try baking them if you do not want to deep fry)
  • Serve hot! 🙂
