I tried out ghee rice my way ( extremely simple) and it tasted yum which is why I’m sharing it here. I used Jeerakasala rice , the short grained thin rice for my preparation. It is also popularly known as biriyani rice in Kerala. I personally prefer this rice only in ghee rice and not in biriyanis 🙂
Jeerakasala rice : 2 cups
Water : 4 cups
Carrot : 2 finely chopped
French beans : bunch of 10-15
Whole garam masala
Ghee : 3 tbspns
Salt : As per taste
Wash and clean the rice. Cook the rice in boiling water. Add a tablespoon of ghee to the water. Boil till the grains are cooked. The rice should not be mushy. Strain the rice and keep it aside.
Next, heat 2 tbspns ghee in a pan and add the whole garam masala to it. Stir for 2-3 mins. Add the chopped carrots first since they take more time to cook. Then add the French beans. Cook till the veggies are soft.
Mix the rice into this pan and turn off the heat.
Serve with dal and sides of your choice.
