Coconut Chutney

Ingredients : (Serves 2)

1 cup fresh coconut grated

2 green chillies OR 3 dry red chillies

For Tempering :

1/2 teaspoon urad dal

1/2 teaspoon chana dal

1/2 teaspoon mustard

4-5 curry leaves

Salt as per taste

1 teaspoon oil

Procedure :

  • Grind the coconut ,chillies and salt to form a uniform paste.
  • Add the oil to a small skillet. Add mustard, urad dal, chana dal and curry eaves to it. We can also finely chop shallots and used it for tempering. This is optional but gives a great flavour to the chutney.
  • Once the mustard splutters and the dal turns golden brown, remove from flame and add to the ground coconut paste.

With red chillies :

This can be used with a variety of dishes like dosa, chutney, upma, pongal.
